Settling in Grey Area (by Farruk)
A village in the grey zone is just like any other, except for the following:
1. It produces no Culture Points (their theoretical culture point production is still taken into consideration when throwing parties or using artworks)
2. Exactly 24 hours after you settle, the Natars will hit you with 14 waves of attacks.
This guide is to enable you to survive those attacks.
1. Before you send your settlers, time the landing for a time when you will be online for some time, even if it is not continuous time.
2. Be prepared to spend some gold on power building and NPC, especially if your online time is limited.(Not essential, but preferable)
3. Do not defend… it is not worth the troop cost
4. As soon as you land, build level 1 warehouse and level 1 granary
5. Send resources from your nearest village in regular shipments, making sure you do not overflow.
6. The newly settled village has two major threats regarding the Natarian attacks:
a. First, if all its buildings and resource fields get destroyed, the village itself will vanish from the map - as it then gets totally destroyed.
b. Second, if the village's population drops down to zero, it will also vanish from the map even if there were still buildings or resource fields of levels above zero.
7. That means, you need to make sure that neither of above conditions get fulfilled. It is not enough to simply fill the village with crannies and cropfields - because at low levels, those buildings do not grant population, and thus they will not prevent the village from getting destroyed.
8. The Natar 14 attacks have each two random targets, thus they can destroy at most 28 targets. Filling all the slots in village center, as well as upgrading every resource field, will be total of 39 targets. Therefore, in order to survive with 100% certainty, you need to have total of 29 buildings and resource fields which all grant population, at absolute minimum.
Hint: if you build low-cost structures, like crannies (one level 10 cranny required to build more than one), the chance that more precious buildings get hit, is lower. The crannies granting zero population do not save your village though, if the population of village reaches zero!
Good luck and have fun.
